Alpha Omicron Pi
Pi Delta Chapter
Philanthropy
Each semester the sisters of Pi Delta Chapter participate in several philanthropies to benefit both local and campus causes and the AOII Foundation. All the money we raise for the AOII Foundation is donated to our international philanthropy, Arthritis, Juvenile Arthritis and related diseases. The money AOII sisters raise supports numerous research grants that help fund dozens of arthritis related projects.
The support of AOII sisterhood doesn't end with graduation. The Alpha Omicron Pi Foundation provides scholarships, educational and leadership grants, arthritis grants, and aid to sisters in dire need. This support is a reflection of the love and sisterhood of AOII.
For example, the AOII Foundation's Ruby Fund helped AOII sisters affected by Hurricane Katrina by providing funds to rebuild sisters' homes or to pay medical bills. As an AOII, there is always someone there to lend a caring hand.
National Philanthropy
Locl Philanthropy
One of the founding principles of Alpha Omicron Pi is to be of service to others - to bring into the world around us a spirit of love, not for self-glory, but as an opportunity to give something back to our communities. The sisters of Pi Delta help to maintain this founding principle by raising money for both their national and local philanthropy, Epilepsy research.
The sisters of Pi Delta participate in the following activities throughout the year to support Arthritis & Epilepsy research and the College Park community:
~ Trick-or-Treat on Greek Street
~ Senior Citizen's Formal
~ Various food sales
~ Sponsoring a child from the Dominican Republic
~ Picture Frame Making and volunteering for Spa Day for the Starlight Starbright Foundation
~ Strike Out Arthritis
-This past Spring we raised money by organizing an event at a local bowling alley!
~ Jog for Justice hosted by the University of Maryland Victims Advocate
~ Snack Pack Attack
